What is the first thing you do when you open for the day?
Turn on some music! We typically play 80s music or current pop but right now you’ll hear classic Christmas music in both stores.
What’s one thing your customers don’t know you do behind the scenes?
We deliver all of the inventory to our Tarrytown location. When we receive all of our inventory from the orders that we place to our Mount Kisco location, we unbox everything and split it accordingly, depending on which store needs more of a particular item. We then box the items going to Tarrytown back up and load it into our cars and drive it to that store. This happens with every order we receive in Mount Kisco, so typically, we are driving boxes to our Tarrytown location two times a week.
What’s one item you always have on hand?
Poop bingo! It’s very popular for kids around the age of 3 to 5. I think it’s popular because kids find anything having to do with poop funny.
If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing instead?
Running a photography business, but I do that too!
What’s one thing people often say when they first walk in?
Oh wow, what a nice store!
What is your most popular item/service?
Jellycat stuffed animals. With Jellycat, they are all very popular year round. I’d say Bartholomew Bear and the dragons they make are in high demand.
What’s the one thing your business couldn’t function without?
Our loyal customers.
Describe your business in three words.
Playing creates memories
