What began in 1981 as a window and door company out of a home garage in Mahopac has grown into a window, door, kitchen cabinet, window treatment and millwork specialty shop in the Somers hamlet of Granite Springs. Open to builders, remodelers, architects, designers and homeowners, Jilco’s goal is to “provide complex building products with exceptional service and very competitive pricing.” In other words, they provide products that require measurements, thoughtful design, movement and precise installation.

Their singular focus on the parts of remodeling that require complete accuracy from start to finish allows them to excel at what they do. And while between 50 and 65 percent of their customers are in the industry, homeowners can walk right in on their own to design and purchase what they need. But what makes Jilco truly stand out is their knowledgeable and friendly sales staff, especially the dozen or so who have worked there for over 30 years.

What We Love

This family-owned business goes beyond sponsoring local sports teams and events.About once a year, they learn about a person battling a health crisis in a home that’s not suitable for recovery. So they’ll donate their time and products, as well as partner with the right tradespeople, to install properly fitting windows or doors, as well as do whatever they can to make the home safe, comfortable and appropriate for healing.

Gia Miller is an award-winning journalist and the editor-in-chief/co-publisher of Connect to Northern Westchester. She has a magazine journalism degree (yes, that's a real thing) from the University of Georgia and has written for countless national publications, ranging from SELF to The Washington Post. Gia desperately wishes schools still taught grammar. Also, she wants everyone to know they can delete the word "that" from about 90% of their sentences, and there's no such thing as "first annual." When she's not running her media empire, Gia enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, laughing at her crazy dog and listening to a good podcast. She thanks multiple alarms, fermented grapes and her amazing husband for helping her get through each day. Her love languages are food and humor.
