Go for the food; stay for the drinks. Opened in 2012, Truck, which serves northern New Mexican cuisine, is known for many things—their oysters and brisket, numerous celebrity sightings, desserts featuring high-end versions of popular Hostess Cakes (Snoballs, Twinkies), and, for those ages 21 and older, their cocktails. Made with fresh seasonal ingredients and high-quality liquor, Truck has perfected the alcohol-to-everything-else ratio.
Their seasonal special, which changes more regularly than the seasons based on what’s available, is always their most popular drink. It’s followed closely by their Power Wagon Margarita and Power Wagon Vintage (the former is made with Pueblo Vejo blanco while the later features Pueblo Vejo reposado) and the Angry Rooster, a spicy margarita that includes muddled jalapeno. The staff say regulars mix the seasonal cocktail and Angry Rooster together, giving their drink a little kick.
But if you’re not in the mood for a cocktail, Truck also offers four draft beers (the Mexican Pilsner-style Pacifico is the most popular), a range of tequilas and spirits, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.
Fun Facts
Truck’s location was an actual truck stop for many generations. Located on Route 22, it was a common resting point for drivers transporting fresh produce, dairy and meats from the farmlands upstate to New York City restaurants.
