Writing By Rocco Cambareri

All the world is sleeping now
Silence gently falls…
Like snowflakes that dance and
Settle in my quiet mind.
The restful world breathes slowly, deeply
The silence is so beautiful
The softness cradles me
Gray and black. The colors fade.
The purple light wanes.
And I sleep.
Author’s note: I wrote Peace to be a poetic kind of lullaby. I am a terrible sleeper much of the time, with raging insomnia. The world is so soft and beautiful when it snows that I often think of it when I am trying to sleep, to calm my mind.
Founders’ note: Not everyone is born with the ability to use their voice. Not everyone can easily communicate their thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams. On this page, we’re giving nonspeaking people in our community the opportunity to be heard. The authors are students at Mouth to Hand Learning Center in Mount Kisco. You can read about Mouth to Hand in the article “Force of Nature” on our website or in the September/October 2023 issue.
