Elmwood Community Playhouse has been an integral part of the Rockland/Westchester community for more than seven decades. We believe live theater is an essential component of society and have endeavored to make it not only available and affordable, but accessible to the members of the community in as many ways as possible. We provide a creative home to theatre makers and a fully accessible venue for theatre goers. Last season, we instituted an open-caption performance program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and we continue to strive to find ways to make theater increasingly accessible to all.

The Elmwood Playhouse theater has grown from a single building to a 4-building complex that includes a 99-seat performing space, lobby and hospitality center, 3 rehearsal studios, dressing rooms, green room, multi-function rooms, a large scenic shop, and storage rooms for sets, lighting, costumes and props. This robust facility allows us not only to provide the highest quality productions, but also to serve as a resource for local groups and schools. We rely on the financial support of our community to maintain our facility and continue to provide a home for all theater lovers to create, perform, experience, and share live theater that entertains us, moves us, and connects us.
