When were you founded?
The Pantry was founded in 1991 and was originally called The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry. The Pantry started with just eight families in need that year. It has grown to be the largest weekly choice pantry in the 21 northern Westchester areas and communities we serve, ensuring that up to 700 families each week have nutritious food to put on the table.
Tell us about your mission.
The Pantry’s mission is to nourish our neighbors in need, but we envision a northern Westchester community where everyone has enough nutritious food and is empowered to thrive. That means we also offer our guests programs that support their overall wellbeing, including nutrition information, free flu shots, information on SNAP benefits and other relevant programs through partnerships with area providers.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know?
We are a mostly volunteer-led organization that relies on the generosity of our community for volunteers, food drives and much-needed funding to make sure no one in our community goes hungry. We hope you will join us!
