When were you founded?
We were founded in 2014.
What is your mission?
We are a nonprofit teaching farm and community organization with four focus area initiatives:
Westchester Local Food Project: Focuses on community gardens, garden education, preparing and donating meals along with fresh produce to the community in need, food rescue from schools, kids garden education, cooking and preserving classes.
Access Nature Project: Focuses on getting special needs and underserved groups to the farm and out in county spaces to get the benefits of being in nature.
Wild Roots Project: Focuses on wild edible and medicinal plants, herbalism and mushrooms.
Seeds of Change Project: Focuses on our work with the incarcerated population and people recently returning from incarceration.
People can reach out and get involved in so many ways, such as volunteering in the gardens or kitchens or with our special needs groups… Also, we are launching a new indoor education space called The Hodge Podge Lodge in partnership with Mill River Supply in Bedford Hills, so reach out and get involved with all types of crafting, homesteading and herbalism skills classes and groups. 🙂
