Anne Joyce’s Pick
Why she chose them:
“It’s an upscale resale shop that supports those battling breast, ovarian and gynecological cancers.”
What’s the one thing your business couldn’t function without?
Our 45 volunteers, some who have been with us for almost 25 years.
What’s the unsung hero of your business?
Our donors! We get donations daily. The store is always full of clothing, artwork, jewelry, housewares and accessories. We also have vintage items, like a collection of dolls, jewelry, handbags, etc.
What is something you wish more people knew about your nonprofit?
All the people who use our services are people who have cancer themselves. That’s very important.
What’s something you do that seems small but makes a huge difference?
Customer service, it’s the way we greet customers. When they come in they are our guests. Saying hello and giving gratitude makes a huge difference. One woman came in looking for a wedding dress and hadn’t had any luck until she spotted one on our mannequin. We took it down for her, and she looked absolutely gorgeous—so excited to finally have the perfect dress.
What’s the funniest customer request you’ve ever received?
A customer wanted to buy a suit and asked if a man came with it.
Describe your non profit in three words.
Caring. Compassion. Hope.
What is your most popular item?
Jewelry and women’s clothing.
What’s your unofficial motto?
Gratitude, growth, hope.
What’s something your nonprofit does differently than anyone else?
Uniqueness of the services, come free, take advantage of services.
What’s one thing people often say when they first walk in?
It’s my happy place!
