Take a trip to downtown White Plains to visit ArtsWestchester’s four exhibits on display through August 2: “Art in a Season of Revolution” showcases artists’ responses to 250 years of American identity; “The Janet Langsam Vault Project” features work by Rana Amirtahmasebi inspired by her Iranian background; photography by Chimoa Nwana depicts the oldest Black churches in White Plains; and the LGBTQ+ Listening Library features music from LGBTQ+ artists. Vintner John Vuolo has spent decades crafting wine using old-world techniques, and now he’s brought his expertise to South Salem Winery. Using grapes sourced from small vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island, all wines are crafted in house. Located inside the greenhouse at Gossetts Nursery, South Salem Winery has partnered with CIA-trained chef Tracy Assue to offer delicious in-house baked goods with your wine. Stop by for a tasting and leave with a bottle (or two).

In light of the many recent AI snafus—from self-driving cars and delivery bots to large-scale privacy violations—the work in this exhibition relishes the human joy of walking and traveling that induces all senses, inspires mark-making in-place, and encourages the instinct for collecting souvenirs. In reflection of Open AI CEO Sam Altman's observation that, "it also takes a lot of energy to train a human....like 20 years of life and all of the food you eat during that time before you get smart..." this exhibition traces the lines between aimless meandering, the noble ideals of a hero's journey, and the discriminatory nature of travel access (unavoidably but peripherally).
Can’t Take My Eyes Off You considers the endless variation among us animal travelers, including pack-rat accumulator behaviors, product-less observation & absorption, synchronized pack movement, pilgrimage, and the brandings of serial imprinters. Wayfinding imagery, portable altars, and methods of nailing-down one’s environment and place within it speak to a simultaneous insatiability for an endless horizon and for familiarity. The exhibition revels in the uniquely animal impulse to fixate, repeat, and to feast one’s eyes to no particular end.
Featuring work by Sadaf Azadehfar, Benjamin Dimock, Alex Patrick Dyck, Adrian Gray, Amadeo Morelos, Ellie Murphy, Kate Quarfordt, Joan Reutershan, Maya Strauss, and StreetMax. Including large and small-scale sculpture, photography, collage, painting, printmaking, found-object assemblage, and fiber installation.
