Teodosia: An Alt-Valentine Oratorio

Join us in North Salem on Valentine’s weekend for an outrageous alternative to the romance story: Alessandro Scarlatti’s Il martirio di Santa Teodosia tells the story of a fearless saint who spurns suitors, turns down marriage, and embraces martyrdom instead of a wedding veil. With dazzling baroque arias, dramatic duets, and a chorus that will have you cheering the ultimate “single‑and‑strong” heroine, the performance flips the usual love‑song script on its head. Whether you’re coupled up or proudly flying solo, come enjoy an afternoon where being true to oneself is the first step to the ultimate relationship.

After online ticketing closes, remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the door starting at 3:30 PM on February 14, 2026.

To reserve tickets for our New York City performance on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 2:30 PM, visit https://luma.com/teodosia-nyc.

Commemorating the life and music of Alessandro Scarlatti

October 22, 2025 marks the 300th anniversary of the death of Alessandro Scarlatti, one of the preeminent oratorio composers of the Baroque era. The Academy of Sacred Drama’s 2025–2026 season honors the composer with performances of two of his finest oratorios: La Giuditta “di Cambridge” from 1697 and Il martirio di Santa Teodosia (1685). The instrumental music of Scarlatti also set the mood for a collaborative concert between the Academy and New York City Master Chorale in October 2025. Many of the Academy instrumentalists were proud to participate in a performance of The Choir of St. Luke in the Fields featuring a Scarlatti Mass written for Christmas Eve. And ARTEK Early Music participated in the Scarlatti Festival by celebrating the works of Alessandro Scarlatti and Orlando Gibbons in a series at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church in New York City.

Lucia Musso has graciously sponsored Adam Cockerham as the Director of Creation for the Scarlatti Festival. And we are also thankful for BY Wound Care Internal Medicine and Byoung Yang, MD for being our season sponsor!

COMEDIAN BIOS:

Tito Garza is a very funny comedian based in New York City. He has spent years on stage cracking audiences up with his unassuming demeanor and playful irreverence. From unique takes on current events, to engaging stories about his dumb life, he consistently delivers an engaging show that is never short on punchlines. Tito has been featured at multiple prestigious comedy clubs and festivals around the country. He has also been seen on Funny or Die and SXSW. You can catch him regularly on stages across New York City.

Deepak Chandran is one of the few Indian comedians to break into Netflix with a full stand-up special — Technically Funny — which premiered globally and landed in Netflix’s Top 10 across Asia. Blending deadpan delivery with sharp observational wit, he turns everyday chaos into unforgettable comedy.

By day, he was a techie in boardrooms filled with buzzwords. By night, he was testing jokes in cramped clubs and conference halls. That double life shaped his unique voice — equal parts relatable, cynical, and painfully honest.

Today, Deepak’s material ranges from startup nonsense and HR disasters to growing up Desi and managing life’s existential bugs. He’s amassed over 25 million views across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube — and built a loyal audience that laughs not just at life, but with it.

Deepak has toured across India, Singapore, the U.S., Australia, and Southeast Asia, and has shared the stage with comedy heavyweights like Jim Gaffigan and Atsuko Okatsuka.

Emily Walsh is an NYC comedian originally from Boston who was recently featured on Kevin Hart’s Lyft Comics on Peacock, and she performs all over New York, including New York Comedy Club, Standup NY, and Westside Comedy Club. Her solo show Dad Girl had a successful month long run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and will be in New York Fringe Festival in 2024.

She headlined a sold out Stand Up NY as part of their Headliner Series. She won 1st place in the Comedy Mob Festival at Stand Up NY in 2018, with 200+ comedian submissions, 2nd place in the She Devil Comedy Festival in 2019 at Broadway Comedy Club, and has been named Comic of the Week on Jackie Kashian and Laurie Kilmartin’s podcast the Jackie and Laurie Show.

Festival credits include HBO’s Women in Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, Gilda’s Laughfest, Boston Comedy Festival, the Out of Bounds Festival in Austin, and the West End Comedy Festival in Atlanta , Oak City Comedy Festival, Maine Comedy Festival, and the Rogue Island Comedy Festival in Newport, RI.

Ben Rosenfeld's comedy is “playfully dark, seriously smart.” Ben’s comedy blends his family’s experience as Russian Jewish immigrants in America with his philosophical beliefs, political observations and unique characters. Ben has been seen on BuzzFeedVideo and is slightly “TikTok famous” with over a quarter-million followers and 11 million likes. He’s also appeared on FOX’s Laughs, Travel Channel’s Mysteries At The Museum, CBS This Morning, Nat Geo’s Brain Games, Netflix’s Brainchild, NPR’s Weekend Edition, FOX News Saturday Night, SiriusXM Radio, The New York Post and been featured as TimeOut New York’s Joke of the Week. He has twice headlined at Caroline’s on Broadway, hosted at the Lincoln Center and performs nightly in New York City. Ben has five comedy albums and two illustrated humor books.

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center: Violin Celebration – Bach to Beethoven

CMS of Lincoln Center returns to The Purchase PAC with a program that celebrates the beauty and versatility of the violin. Invented in the mid-16th century, the violin emerged as the stringed instrument of choice during the Baroque era, culminating with the concertos, chamber music, and solo works of J. S. Bach. Virtuosi such as Tartini added flair; Mozart, a proficient violinist himself, contributed sonatas on a sublime new level; and Beethoven, master of drama and musical prophet, paved the way to the future with new heights of expression for the instrument. SAHUN SAM HONG, Piano EVREN OZEL, Piano CHAD HOOPES, Violin ANI KAVAFIAN, Violin SEAN LEE, Violin CHO-LIANG LIN, Violin Join us before the show for an informal Artist Talk. 4:15pm, free with your ticket.

Big Head Todd and the Monsters Winter Tour 2026

For nearly four decades, Big Head Todd and The Monsters have proven that true friendship and rock ‘n’ roll grit can stand the test of time.

Since their formation in 1986, Todd Park Mohr, Brian Nevin, Rob Squires, and Jeremy Lawton have been crafting blues-drenched rock anthems that ignite audiences around the world. Known for platinum-selling hits like Sister Sweetly and collaborations with legends such as B.B. King, Neil Young, and Robert Plant, the Colorado-based quartet has headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre 35 times, earned induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, and even performed for astronauts aboard the International Space Station. On Sunday, February 22, they bring their powerhouse sound and decades of road-tested energy to Paramount Hudson Valley Theater.

Their latest release, Her Way Out, captures everything fans love about Big Head Todd and The Monsters—raw, soulful vocals, driving guitar riffs, and storytelling that resonates. The album’s title track delivers a punchy, emotional narrative about love and loss, while tracks like the high-octane Thunderbird and the cinematic King Kong showcase the band’s versatility and knack for blending gritty rock with vivid imagery. Every song was road-tested before recording, ensuring that the energy fans feel on stage is baked right into the album. It’s proof that after nearly 40 years together, they’re still evolving, still pushing, and still delivering unforgettable music.

Whether you’ve been following them since the early days of Another Mayberry or are discovering them for the first time, this is your chance to experience Big Head Todd and The Monsters in their prime. Expect a night packed with fan favorites, fresh cuts from Her Way Out, and the kind of passionate, tight-knit performance only a band with this kind of history can deliver. Get ready for soaring guitar solos, powerhouse vocals, and a setlist that will have you singing, dancing, and revving your own engine just a little louder.

*As a reminder, no outside food or drink permitted in the venue. Any patron found with outside alcohol, is subject to removal. Backpacks and large bags are not permitted inside of the venue. All guests are subject to bag checks and security wanding upon entry.

Comedian Bios

Tom Van Horn has been a professional comedian for over twenty years, working regularly at New York venues such as The Comic Strip, Stand-Up NY, Gotham Comedy Club and The Comedy Cellar. He has appeared on Last Comic Standing (NY Semifinalist), AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, E! Entertainment Television and Fox News “Red Eye” with Greg Gutfeld.

Tom has performed at the Nantucket Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival and The NY Underground Comedy Festival.

Sonya Vai was born and raised in New York City but is constantly asked, “Where are you really from?” by drunk men in bars. Sonya’s subversive brand of comedy - challenging not only gender but ethnic and religious stereotypes - has been featured at comedy clubs as well as independent shows across the country.

Sonya recently participated in the CinderBlock Comedy Festival in Brooklyn, NY. Last year she opened for the 'PBS Socal Presents' film screening of the award winning documentary Meet The Patels. She was also on the 'Comedy's Best Kept Secret' tour, performing in 25 shows over 23 days across 21 cities from Las Vegas to New York.

Tayler Yarish is a NYC-based comedian, originally from Baltimore, who’s been making people laugh his whole life. He’s been a featured performer at multiple comedy festivals including New York Comedy Festival, SLO Comedy Festival, Baltimore Comedy Festival, and Charm City Comedy Festival. When he’s not touring around the country, he can be seen nightly at comedy clubs throughout NYC.

Jeff Medoff is a comedian and writer. Originally from Massachusetts, he grew up drawing comic strips and playing the bass guitar in local bands. He wanted to be a doctor but decided not to after discovering his passion for comedy (and not because he didn’t get accepted to medical school).

Jeff has performed all over the northeast including venues such as Don't Tell Comedy, Comix Mohegan Sun, The Laugh Factory and Laugh Boston. He chosen as a Comic Sit-In at The Riot Theater in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, and from 2019 to 2021 he co-hosted ‘The Hardly Working Podcast’, a show with musician and friend Nick Russo.

Jeff moved to Brooklyn in 2021 and can now be found on stage nightly throughout New York City, though he frequently returns to his New England roots for comedy and Celtics games.

Ben Rosenfeld's comedy is “playfully dark, seriously smart.” Ben’s comedy blends his family’s experience as Russian Jewish immigrants in America with his philosophical and political observations and unique characters. Ben has been seen on BuzzFeedVideo and is slightly “TikTok famous” with over a quarter-million followers and 100 million views.
