Describe your business in three words.
Food. Family. Love.
If your business had a theme song, what would it be?
“Bee Yourself.” It’s a reminder to stay grounded, stay humble, and stay true to who we are — values our family lives by.
What’s your business’s unofficial motto?
Work hard, and treat everyone like family.
What’s something your business does differently than anyone else?
We operate with philoxenia — the Greek principle of making every guest feel cared for, welcomed, and at home. It’s more than hospitality. It’s a way of life.
What’s the smallest detail your customers notice — or that you hope they notice?
The warmth. Our guests feel at ease because our team treats each person like they matter. You can’t fake that.
What’s the one thing your business couldn’t function without?
Our amazing and dedicated staff. Many of them have been with us for years, and they’re truly part of our family. The Beehive wouldn’t be The Beehive without them.
What’s one thing people often say when they first walk in?
“It feels like home.” And honestly, that’s the greatest compliment we could ever receive.
What’s the unsung hero of your business?
Our scratch cooking. Whether it’s baking, sauces, soups or desserts — that commitment to doing things the right way, not the fast way, is the backbone of our kitchen.
What is your most popular item/service?
Brunch. People love spreading out, settling in and spending time with loved ones. It’s our busiest and happiest time of the week.
What is something you wish more people knew about you and/or your business?
That our family has poured our whole hearts into this place for decades. Every dish, every detail, every tradition—it all comes from a deep love for what we do.
What is the first thing you do when you open for the day?
I greet everyone with a “good morning”—our team sets the tone for the entire day. We start with positivity, check our stations, and make sure every product and piece of equipment is ready. A smooth day begins with a calm and prepared team.
What’s something your customers don’t know you do behind the scenes?
I quietly pray over our restaurant, our staff, and our guests. It’s my way of grounding myself before the rush and asking for a peaceful, productive day for everyone.
What’s something you’ve gotten better at every year?
Balancing work and family. Running a restaurant is easily a 15-hour day, but I’ve learned when to push and when to pause. I don’t sweat the small stuff the way I used to.
What’s one item you always have on hand?
A band saw. We butcher our meat.
What’s something you do that seems small but makes a huge difference?
We make almost everything from scratch. It takes more time and effort, but people can taste the difference the moment a plate hits the table. Those little details create big moments for our guests.
What was your “I made it” moment?
Hearing that we were recognized as one of the top 100 brunch places in the U.S. was incredible — but honestly, the real “I made it” moment is when someone takes a bite and their whole face lights up. That reaction means more than any ranking.
